Blimey, I’d meant to post a new blog ages ago.. whoops :/
I loved all the positive feedback on my attempt at an inspirational blog post, glad it wasn’t a flop. In news, my exams are coming up, but so is Summer & my birthday so I’ll survive.
Yeah.. that’s pretty much it. I joined the Yearbook group, Netball is finished & so is debating so things are kind of settling down, only to be revved up again in November for my externals. Anywhoooo..

I’ve had glasses since I was 8. Both my parents have them, and grandparents on either side need reading glasses, so it was rather inevitable that I would end up with glasses at some stage in my life.

Personally, they don’t bother me. I remember when I was 8, I was kind of excited for them. I’ve had four frames in about 7/8 years so I’d say I’ve looked after my various pairs well.
My current ones are Osiris with black and white arms. I really don’t suit those thick black hipster frames, I tried some on and looked absolutely ridiculous. Like actually, I just cracked up in the optometrists, I looked so stupid.

Although, I have no problems with glasses, it seems that some people do. I’ve never been teased (no four-eyes taunts for me) for them, but once in the odd while, people have pissed me off about my glasses.
I take them off to clean them, and often I hear “You look so pretty without your glasses, you should get contacts!Gee Thanks.
I don’t care if it’s intended as a compliment, that is not a compliment I want to be hearing. You might as well say “Omg, you’re a fugly cactus with your glasses on.”

I usually say how I don’t like contacts and then they say what about laser eye surgery. Yes people. I have a spare $2000 for eye surgery, when I like my glasses?
I had one girl who had a million suggestions on how I could get rid of my glasses. I was beginning to think she was a tad creepy, seriously, she went on and on about me not wearing them, because apparently I looked so much better without them that I was depriving myself of life by wearing them (her words, not mine.)

I felt like saying, here’s a spade, go dig yourself a hole to China. I should really be saying Spain, as that is where you would end up if you dug a hole straight through the earth from New Zealand, but it doesn’t really have the same ring to it.
Where does she get off telling me this? I like my glasses, I like other people with glasses. They do not make people look ugly (unless you buy really hideous, unflattering ones) so why do a lot of people seem to think glasses are something bad?! I heard a guy say glasses make people look ugly, when I know for a fact that his sister & many of his friends have glasses. Makes me mad *shakes fist*.

This brings me onto my other rant point. People taking their glasses off at their weddings/balls/etc. Why? I would never do that, to me that’s like saying that you’re not good enough being your natural self. If that’s not good enough for your ball/wedding/etc why not just ditch them altogether? Oh right, then you couldn’t see.
I mean, everyone is entitled to what they want, but I for one, will never take my glasses off for a special event. I just find it wrong, somehow. You asked for me, you get me, glasses and all.

Lastly, those $2 hipster frames people buy to wear in photos. Sure, wear them in photos; but don’t come telling me how wearing glasses is like, so totally awesome and you wish you had them. $2 black hipster plastic is not glasses people.
I don’t know why this annoys me so much, I think it’s the fact that someone puts on some frames with no lens for 5 minutes then decides that equals wearing glasses all the time.

Basically, I like my glasses, I don’t think you need to take them off at an important event to be beautiful and I will never wear black hipster plastic because a) I look stupid and b) they are not real glasses. Alright, I’m going to go because I can smell juicy angus beef burgers and cheesecake wafting down the hallway from the kitchen.
